8th regiment parachutist of marines

The 8th RPIMa was created the February 28th 1951 in Indo-China, it was called then the 8th BPC (Battalion of colonial parachutists), they carry the red Béret.

The regiment currently holds garrison with Castres. Its current activities consist of maintenance missions of peace and assistance to the populations, of maintenance of law and order under the control of NATO or the United Nations (Blue helmets).

History of the garrisons, combat and battles

8th RPIMa occurs in Indo-China, on February 28th, 1951 under the name of 8th B.P.C. Present on the spot of 1951 to 1954, it takes part in many combat vis-a-vis an enemy higher of number. Almost the whole of the regiment will disappear with Diên Biên Phu. It registers the word " Indochine" on its emblem In Algeria, it inflicts enormous losses with the enemy (rebellious). It returns in France on July 8th, 1961, temporarily in garrison with Nancy before joining Castres later one year.

It is decorated with the Military Cross T.O.E with four palms, it carries the fodder one to the colors of the Military decoration, with olive with the colors of the Military Cross T.O.E.

19 officers, 70 warrant officers and 381 porpoises parachutists died for the France, under the folds of its flag.
