Ubayd Allah Al-Mahdi: imâm of the Ismaéliens

Al-Kindi, arabo-Islamic Philosopher, with Baghdad, called the “philosopher of the Arabs”. Translator, astrologer of Al-Ma' mun and encyclopedist (his works cover Greek sciences, Persians and Indians), he denied the opposition between the Philosophie ( falsafa ) and the prophetic Revelation. He is the author of a treaty of optics.

Hunayn ibn Ishâk Al Ibadi (born in 809), translator and doctor of the court under Jafar Al-Mutawakkil. Arab Christian nestorien of origin, he translates into Arabic several scientific and philosophical texts Greek (of which the major part of the work of Galien), generally starting from manuscripts syriaques. His/her son Ishâk (death in 910) and his nephew Hubaysh ibn Al-Hassan is them also of large translators.
