Events
Worsen Byzantine
- July 26th: The Byzantine emperor Nicéphore Ier is beaten and killed by the Khan of the Bulgares, Kroum.
- Nicéphore takes Pliska with the Bulgarian ones, but them khan Kroum overcomes it with Andrinople (Bataille of Virbitza), kills it, and makes of its cranium a cut with drinking silver plating. It advances until Constantinople.
- In short and transitory reign of Staurakios, wire of Nicéphore.
- October 2nd:
- Staurakios abdicates and is withdrawn in a monastery. Wounded, he dies shortly after without leaving of heir (January 11th 812). The throne returns to Michel Rangabé.
- Beginning of the reign of the son-in-law of Nicéphore Ier, Michel Ier Rangabé, husband of Procopia, girl of Nicéphore (fine in 813). Michel reconciles himself with the stoudites.
