  • March 25th: Beginning of the Pontificate of Etienne II (fine in 757).
  • Mars: Pip III known as the Brief (v. 715 - 768), mayor of the palates of Burgundy (741), of Neustrie (741), and of Austrasie (747) is crowned king of the Francs into 752 by several bishops of the kingdom frankly brought together with Soissons. With him, the dynasty begins from the Carolingiens.

  • Aistolf, King of Lombards, after having taken the exarchat of Ravenne, claims its tender with the pope Etienne II. To the call of the pope, the Byzantine emperor sends an embassy at Aistolf, which receives it but refuses with any concession. The pope then goes itself to Pavia and undergoes in his turn a failure. He will leave for the court Pépin the Brief to ask of the assistance (January 6th 754).
