72e regiment of infantry of line

The 72e Régiment of Infanterie of line (or 30 IH) is a regiment made up during the Ancien Mode. It was distinguished during the Napoleonean wars in particular with Marengo (1800), with Wagram (1809) and with Moskova (1812).

Creation and various denominations

  • 1674 : Survey

  • 1762: the name of Régiment of Vexin
  • 1791 takes: famous 72e Regiment of Infantry
  • 1794: transformed into 72e Half-Brigade of Battle , starting from the following units:
    • 2nd battalion of the 36 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry of Line
    • 6th battalion of volunteers of the Jura
    • 2nd battalion of volunteers of the Gironde
  • 1796: 72e Half-Brigade of Infantry of Line , starting from the following units:
