7-Zip
7-Zip is a Logiciel of and data compression Archivage of files functioning under Windows. It can also be used with other operating systems (Linux…) grace, for example, with the project Wine.
It is a Free software distributed under license LGPL, the code AES is under License BSD and unRAR codes it is under mixed license (LGPL + of the restrictions unRAR). It is in competition with WinZip and WinRAR, which is of the owners equivalents of the type Partagiciel (or shareware).
The program functions in Ligne of order or with a Graphical interface translated in 69 languages including French.
It deals with the following formats of file:
- Compression/Decompression: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR.
- Decompression: RAR, CAB, the Image disc ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB., NSIS, SPLIT, MSI, Doc.…
7-Zip also deals with the process of coding AES of 256 bits and the creation of car-extractable files.
The native format 7z is an open modular format which allows the storage of different compressed files using algorithms, with file names Unicode. By defect, the software creates files with the format of filing 7z (with the extension .7z) by using the algorithm of compression LZMA, which allows the creation of files more compact than the formats such as ZIP, RAR, ACE. The other currently available algorithms in the format 7z are PPMd (effective on the text) and BCJ2 (used jointly with LZMA for the achievable ones).
Under Windows
After authorization at the time of the installation of the software, a simple click-right on a file or a file in Windows makes it possible to post a pull-down menu in which the sub-menu 7-Zip is present. This menu gives access to the principal functionalities of 7-Zip: compression, opening, decompression, etc7-Zip can also be used in line of order. The following order creates a file 7z: 7z has archive.7z fichier_a_archiver This order extracts the files and files from a file 7z : 7z E archive.7z
Under Linux
7-Zip does not exist in version fenestrated under Linux, but the online version of order of 7-Zip was carried under Linux under the name P7zip.The file names of the files 7-Zip being stored in format Unicode, the joint use of 7-Zip and p7zip make it possible to transfer without problem between Windows and Linux from the files whose names contain accentuated characters.
To extract a file: p7zip - D archive.7z
