6 minutes

The Six ( 6 minutes of 1988 to 2005) is the Tv news of information all in images, diffused each evening since October 1987 with 19:50 on M6.

History of the emission

As of its launching on March 1st 1987, M6 installs each day with 12:45 and 19:30 a Tv news presented by Marian Lacombe. Vis-a-vis the little of audience at its beginnings, the chain must re-examine its ambitions with the fall as of the re-entry of September 1987. Jean Stock, director of the programs, removes the newspaper of fifteen minutes and created the 6 minutes (because it lasted 6 minutes at the time) in a logic of against-programming. This go of information new in France takes the shape of a newspaper all in images very short commented on by a Voice-over. The first 6 minutes is diffused in October 1987 with 20:24, and spends the following year to 19:54 to steal early product of information to the 20 hour old newspapers of the concurrent chains.

With the years, the 6 minutes was prolonged to last 10 minutes and to start towards 19:50. In front of its success, the chain gave birth in 2003 to a 6 minutes midday founded on the same bases which evolved/moved in October 2005 to become true a Tv news with presenter, the 12:50 .

Principle of the emission

The Six' is a 10 minute old newspaper all in images.

In addition to the national newspaper, the Six' proposes local editions with Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Marseilles, Nancy, and diffused Toulouse each evening of 20:35 to 20:40. The tone is generally lighter there and more anecdotic information.

The editions of Montpellier and Nice are stopped on April 11th, 2007 because of the regulation on the local publicity which they cannot diffuse.
