Beaumont (in Picardy Biômont ) is a French-speaking city of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.

The city counts a little more 6  000 hectares. The commune is consisted of the sections of Barbençon, Beaumont, Leugnies, Leval-Chaudeville, Renlies, Solre-Saint-Géry, Strée and Thirimont. This commune of the Boot of Hainaut, frontier with the France, is closer to the French cities of Avesnes-on-Helpe, Jeumont and Maubeuge that of Mons, chief town of the province.

City-stage, Beaumont is famous for its Tower Salamander, its Macaron S, but also for its legend of the Three Auvergnats. The three small drainage canals would have lack of respect with Charles Quint. One hour after their arrival downtown, Charles Quint would have made them hang. From where the maxim, “Beaumont, town of misfortune. Arrived at midday, hung at one hour”. This legend is the subject of a historical reconstitution every five years (the last one took place in October 2005).
