  • First written recension of the Coran to Médine under the direction of Zayd ibn Thâbit. Concurrent recensions would have existed, in particular the account of Ubayy, another secretary of Mahomet, whose recension is with the honor in Damas, that of Ibn Masud, companion of the prophet opposed to the operation of unification and that of Ali (Shiites).

  • Yazdgard III, the last of the Sassanides is assassinated close to Merv. The Arab dominate the Fars and the Khorasan (Nichapour), takes Hérat and Merv.
  • Foundation of the first Buddhist temple to the Tibet.
  • Treated between the Moslem Egypt and the Christian kingdom of Dongola (Makuria).
