The Middle East

  • February 26th: The prophet Mahomet, followed by a crowd of one hundred thousand pilgrims, gets under way for Mecque, where it will carry out his pilgrimage of good-bye.
  • March 5th: The prophet Mahomet arrives at Mecque to achieve the pilgrimage, and it is joined there by Ali, which returned from the Yemen with its men.
  • March 15th: Bidding his farewell at his birthplace, the prophet Mahomet leaves Mecque for Médine.
  • March 19th: With the return of its pilgrimage of good-bye to Mecque, the prophet Mahomet makes a halt with Ghadir Khum, where he pronounces a sermon, during which he would have revealed (according to the Chiites) that God would have ordered to him to designate its successor, and that he would have chosen “Ali.
