5 year old Critérium

The Critérium the 5 years is a horse-race of harnessed trot being held in September on the Hippodrome of Vincennes.

It is a race of Group I reserved for the horses 5 years, hongres excluded, having gained at least: 60000 €. The allowance 2007 is of: 240000 €.

This test sees to clash the best 5 years French trotters, and makes it possible to locate the horses. The largest aces often registered their name with the prize list of this race.

The 5 year old critérium is run on the distance from: 3000 meters, large track, volté departure. The first edition goes back to 1942. Since, only 10 females registered their name with the prize list, among which Roquépine and Lady of Auvrecy.

The critérium 2007

The critérium 2007 puts at the catches 17 horses of the generation of the " O". This edition with the characteristic to see Offshore oil rig Dream, the winner of the Price of America 2007, at the beginning. It is thus the big favorite of this critérium and will try to imitate Jamin, Masina, Roquépine and Upsalin, the 4 trotters hitherto having made a success of doubled America/Critérium 5 years the same year.

Vis-a-vis Offshore oil rig Dream, two horses seem to be detached: Bird of Fires, victorious of the Hugo Abergs Memorial 2007 and Opus Viervil, wire of Jag de Bellouet and victorious of four races of Group II. Large absent from the test is Orlando Vici, double winner of the Critérium the 3 years and Critérium the 4 years.

After a quiet departure, Ozio Royal approaches Offshore Dream, at the head of the race. By the play of the relays, Ozio Royal takes the command and hardens the race under the impulse of its driver, Jean-Michel Bazire. In the last turn, it always carries out and controls its adversaries in the last straight line. Author of a correct race, Offshore Dream must be satisfied with the 2nd place, whereas Oiseau of Fires, author of a beautiful final sprint, is classified 3rd.

By carrying out the kilometric reduction of 1 ' 13" 8, Ozio Royal is the third trotter of the history to the prize list of the 5 year old critèrium to be gone down under the bar from the 1 ' 14". However, the record of the test is always held by Général of the Pommel, in 2000, with 1 ' 13" 6.

The critérium 2006

The critérium 2006 puts at the catches the generation of the " N". Before the race, no big favorite is released. Indeed, Nikita of the bank account number, although having gained the Critérium the 3 years then that of the 4 years did not return on its best level since a wound. That thus leaves the open door to other horses, among which a trio seems to take shape: Our Haufor, Nijinski Rodney and Nijinski Blue.

Upon the departure, two competitors lose any chance, Nor Ho the developing countries of Hombrée and Nevealone of Dungy. Nahar de Béval takes the command, and Our Haufor is obliged to make outsides, just like Nijinski Blue.

To the price of a beautiful effort, Our Haufor manages to be folded back, leaving Nijinski Blue nose with the wind. To 700 meters of the post, Nouba of Saptel increases a violent acceleration and widens the gap quickly, with two lengths in advance.

In the last straight line, the victory seems promised with Nouba of Saptel, but Our Haufor does not release and comes to cap it on the post. It thus gains Critérium 2006 into 3 ' 42" 25, with a kilometric reduction of 1 ' 14" 10.
