594.0 rail-car
In 1994, Renfe decides to buy new rail-cars in order to improve its regional express services. It is a question of ordering material faster, more powerful, and more comfortable than the " Camellos" series 592 and 593. The consortium formed by the CIF and ABB gains the contest for the supply of the first sixteen units in 1995, with option over the construction of 60 additional units.
Design
The new oars TRD (for Diesel Trenes Regional ) are derived from the model IC 3 in service on DSB. Each unit is made of two coupled cases in a way semi-permanent and equipped each of two diesel engines. Each end is equipped with a rubber shield possibly acting as pad of intercommunication (frontal doors being folding). The units of head are numbered in section 594-000, those of tail in the section 594-500. All the TRD of series 594 bear a name of baptème:- 594-001: Emilia Pardo Bazan

Service
The first unit is delivered in June 1997. One Regionales had envisaged to distribute the compositions in three groups, 7 for the Galicia, 7 for the Andalusia, and 2 for Madrid - Salamanque. After delivery of all the series, the Galicia receives only 6 from them, Madrid - Salamanque 3. September 28th, 1997, TRD are engaged for the first time on the service Corogne - Vigo, allowing a 20 minutes reduction over run time. Their business service on Seville - Malaga and Grenade - Almeria begins on May 24th, 1998, with time-savers from 30 to 40 minutes. Lastly, starting from February 7th, 1999, they ensure the relation Madrid - Salamanque in 2:00 .34 instead of 3:00 .10. In October 1999, a TRD circulates on the line Murcia - Carthagène, service extended in 2000 to the line Bobadilla - Algesiras The TRD present some quickly repaired defects of youth. The inopportune noise in the cabins will be tiny room after installation of insulating slabs. After delivery of the series, CIF negotiates with the Renfe to be able to install with its expenses a new system of active pendulation developped at the point by the firm. The 594-016, initially envisaged, is replaced by 594-003. The 594-009, which underwent a fire in Andalusia, is rear the continuation retained to be used as testing ground with the new bogie with variable spacing FACED CIF. This material giving satisfaction, Renfe orders seven units suppléentaires in February 1999.
