The Basse-Normandie is a area of France, created in 1956, which gathers three departments: the Apple-brandy, the Flowering ash and the Handle. It corresponds to the Western part of the old province of Normandy and part of the Perche.

The axis Cherbourg-Octeville - Caen - Paris became the “backbone” of Basse-Normandie, so much ferroviare (Trains Broad outlines) that road (A13/N13). This principal transportation route connects the most populated territories and economically most dynamic (agglomeration cherbourgeoise, Caen-native area, country of Trough), with the costs of a south more rural Low Norman. This structuring consequently directs the area more towards Paris and low the the Seine (Rouen and Le Havre) that towards the capitals of the Grand West (Rennes, Nantes)
