48e regiment of infantry of line
The 48e regiment of Infanterie of line is a French military unit. Based with Guingamp at the beginning of the 20th century, (old 6th of the small-old men - regiment of Artois) it also gave rise to the 248 {{E}} regiment of infantry.
- There so far did not exist any complete history of the regiment. it is also drawn up with the young generations which will collect in this page the heritage of patriotism, i.e. direction of the duty, courage and abnegation which their groins constituted with their intention, Major the lieutenant-colonel Dubois Jean-Paul .
Badge
Its badge consists of one ecu of money to champagne sown of hermine with number 48. Above, on a streamer of white enamel, its currency is entered. The upper part, a Dolmen of money supporting a oak breaks into leaf of Sinople (in abyss embroidering the trunk of the oak).
Creation and various denominations
48e regiment of infantry of line made up of the following units:- Created under the reign of Henri IV, this regiment was under the terms of a commission of April 24th 1610 by the count de Beaumont which was the godfather of Madam de Sévigné, governor of Fère and the first Master of hotel of the king.
- Under the reign of Louis XIII, the possession of the white flag became the privilege and the mark of the permanent bodies maintained and paid on the ordinary one. The number of these regiments was changed to twelve the September 15th 1635. These bodies were: French Guards, Picardy, Champagne, Piedmont, Navarre, Normandy, Caps, Rambures, Espinasse Borough-the, Sault, Vaubécourt and Beaumont. The six first were the " old man corps" , the six others were the " small vieux". Like the 21 {{E}} R.I, 13 {{E}} R.I, 15 {{E}} R.I, 17 {{E}} R.I, 19 {{E}} R.I, 48 {{E}} R.I.
- Of 1610 to 1675, the regiments bore the name of their respective colonels.
- Under the reign of Louis XVI it decided to allot the name to the regiment of Artois to the regiment of châteauneuf. It was concervé until in 1791 it lost its denomination, according to its row, it will be now called 48e regiment of infantry.
- Of 1794 with 1804 48e half-brigade.
- on September 24th 1803 it will be reformed. It carried successively the name of 48e regiment of infantry of line, Légion of the Loiret, 48e regiment of infantry, dissolved in 1940. it kept the traditions entrusted to the 71e regiment of infantry of line. There exists again of 1945 with 1946 and of 1956 with 1958.
- Its name was taken again since 1971 by a regiment of reserve envisaged in mobilization and practitioner the car-instruction, stationed with guingamp. Dissolved
- on June 12th 1998.
