45e parallel north

In Geography, the 45e parallel north is the parallel uniting the points of the surface of the Ground whose Latitude is equal to 45° Northern. It marks the points located halfway between the equator and the North pole in term of latitude (in term of distance, the points located halfway of these two areas are a little in the north of the parallel 45e, towards 45° 09 ' NR, the Earth being a slightly flattened Sphéroïde.)

Europe

After the Atlantic Ocean, few before its junction with the Meridian Greenwich marking the origin the Longitude S, the 45e parallel key the European continent in France with the level of the commune of Lacanau (). While continuing towards the Is, it parallel master key slightly in the north of Bordeaux, crosses the Massif Central, crosses the the Rhone in the north of Valence and the Alps in the south of Grenoble and the north of Briançon.

Then parallel arrives it at the north of the Italy with the level of the the Alps cottiennes. It is then parallel to the Po, passing just to the south of Turin. It leaves Italy by crossing the Adriatic Sea.

In the Balkans, the 45e parallel cross-piece successively the Adriatic part of the Croatia, the north of the Bosnia-Herzégovine, the part is of Croatia, the autonomous province Serb of Voïvodine and the Romania (just in north of Ploieşti and through Târgu Jiu).

After Romania, it parallel the Black Sea enters. It crosses then the Ukrainian peninsula of the Crimea and its capital Simferopol. In Russia, it passes successively through the Krai de Krasnodar (and its capital Krasnodar), the Krai de Stavropol (and its capital Stavropol) and the Kalmoukie before joining the Caspian Sea.

Asia

In Asia, the parallel 45e leaves the Caspian Sea and penetrates with the Kazakhstan, on the level of the north of the Plateau of Ustyurt. At the border with the Ouzbékistan, it crosses the Mer of Aral and the peninsula of old the island of the Rebirth, before finding the south of Kazakhstan; it passes through the town of Qyzylorda, then more in the east that of Burylbaytal to the southern point of the Lac Balkhach.

In the North-West of the China, the parallel passes through the city of Karamay in the province of the Xinjiang. It crosses then the south of the Mongolia, through the provinces of Hovd, Govi-Altay, Bayanhongor, Övörhangay, Dundgovi, Dornogovi (and its capital Saynshand) and Sühbaatar. It enters again to China, through the Mongolia-Interior and the provinces of the Jilin and the Heilongjiang (passing to the south of Harbin). It leaves China on the level of the Lac Khanka.

The parallel finds the Russia with the Krai de Primorsk and leaves the continent of Asia a little in the north of Vladivostok. It crosses the north of the Mer of Japan, then the northern point of the Japanese island of Hokkaidō (through the National park of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu). Last Asian emerged ground that it meeting is the Russian island of Iturup, in the islands Kouriles. It then continues towards the east above the Pacific Ocean.

North America

After the Pacific Ocean, the parallel 45e finds the dry land in North America on the level of the State of the Oregon, with the the United States. It crosses then the Rocky Mountains and the Grandes Plains. The parallel passes through Oregon (in the south of Portland), the Idaho and the Montana, delimits most of the border between Montana and the Wyoming, then the South Dakota, the Minnesota (crossing the agglomeration of Mineapolis - Saint Paul) and the Wisconsin. It passes above the Lake Michigan, crosses the Michigan, then the Lake Huron and enters the Canada. Throughout its course in the United States, many signs on the highways mark the passage of the parallel and indicates that they are places located halfway between the north pole and the equator.

With Canada, it parallel cross-piece the province of the Ontario. It then marks with little-near the border between the United States and Canada on the level of the American States of New York and of the Vermont and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and the Quebec, between the the St. Lawrence and the river Connecticut (the border between Vermont and Quebec is actually located approximately 1 km more at north because of a cartographic error).

The 45e parallel cross-piece American States of the New Hampshire and the Maine, then the Canadian province of the New Brunswick, the Bay of Fundy and the Nova Scotia. It then continues towards the east above the Atlantic Ocean.
