43e regiment of marines

The 43e Régiment of marines is a unit of the French Army.

It is a colonial regiment of reserve created in August 1914 under the name of 43e regiment of infantry colonial, and attached to the 23 {{E}} regiment of colonial infantry. Famous in 1958, the 43e battalion of marines stations with Port-Bouët, in the south-east of Abidjan, in Ivory Coast. It belongs to the TFCI, French troops stationed in Coast-in Ivoire.

  • It carries the Fourragère to the colors of the ribbon of the L3egion d'Honneur with olives to the colors of the ribbon of the Military Cross 1914-1918 and the Military Cross 1939-1945.

Between two wars

The second world war

  • re-creation August 1939 of the 43e R.I.C
  • 1940-1942: it belongs to the army of armistice.

From 1945 to our day

  • in 1945 when it east recreates starting from the 18th regiment of Senegalese riflemen (R.T.S) it takes again the same badge and adds a palm gained during to it the countryside of France of 1939-1940 (8 palms).
  • from 1946 it gains another palm in Indo-China, of 1947 to 1953 it takes part in the pacification of the south and gains T.O.E (1palme), that it will make be reproduced on the ribbon of its Military Cross (9 palms) .
  • in April 1956 it becomes the 43e B.I.C in Algérie in Phillippeville.
  • Recreated on April 1st, 1960 with Offenburg, city located in the plain of the Rhine at the foot of the black forest in Germany, the 43e Rima is the direct heir to 43e RIC. First of all 43e RBima (Armor-plated Regiment of Marines), it will consist of a squadron of command and support, as well as three squadrons of three groups of five tanks AMX 13 90  mm, to which will come to be added later a squadron of three groups of four AMX-13 75  mm SS11, then a Grouping of Instruction called 11th squadron. May 1st, 1968, the 43e RBima becomes the 43e Rima (Regiment of marines. It includes/understands then, a squadron of command and support, two companies of infantry, 1st and 4th, with three sections of four AMX-13 VTT (Vehicle Transport of Troop), two squadrons, 2nd and 3rd with four groups of three tanks AMX-13 90 mm F1 and a group of four AMX-13 75 mm SS11, as well as Grouping of Instruction, the 11th squadron, composed of three groups of instruction and a group Out-Row including/understanding the permanent personnel of the 11th squadron.
  • It was to leave place in its districts of Montalègre to 42e IH. Its future metropolitan frameworks started to be transferred to the 43e Rima as of the last quarters of the year 1977. Throughout its parking with Offenburg, the units of the 43e Rima made many changings with Berlin within the 46 {{E}} R.I and of the 11th regiment of hunters with horse, proof if it is that this regiment, one of more decorated with France, took an active part in the missions dedicated to the FFA (French Forces in Germany).

  • the 43e Rima beginning of the year 1978, it is again dissolved, then as from July 1978, it becomes again the 43e B.I.M.A, to be reconstituted in Ivory Coast with Abidjan on July 1st, 1978.
