42e regiment of infantry of line

The 42e regiment of infantry of line or 42e IH is a regiment of infantry which was based with Belfort the day before the First World War in the barracks Bougenel (current district of the 4 Aces).

Since the war of 14-18 it is called As of Square (division of the ACES).

In 1964-1965, 42e IH was based with Radolfzell, in Germany.

The regiment left for Wittlich close to Truces in July 1968 until in end of the year 1980. It was binomial of brigade armor-plated like regiment mechanized with 8°Groupement of Hunters mechanized, both to four combat units (two squadrons of tanks and two companies of combat), with tanks AMX-13 and transport VTT.

In 1964-1965, the Pithon captain ordered the G.I. (Grouping of instruction), he was assisted by the Rousseau captain.

The Horned sergeant, directed the office of the Major, the 1st Guerin-Loury class, was responsible for the pay.

In the years 1990, the regiment was in garrison in Offenburg (Germany) in the barracks even or Johnny Haliday had passed its military service and belonged to the 3°DB.

The 42 carried out a mission of changing in Berlin at the time of the fall of the wall in 1990, before being dissolves in 1991.
