Anne Inez McCaffrey is an American writer E of Science-fiction, born in 1926.
It took down many literary prizes for its works, of which the Prix Hugo in 1968 for its novella (long news) Weyr Search , which will constitute the beginning of the first novel published of the Ballade of Pern , Flight of the Dragon . The universe of Pern made its international repute.
Biography
Anne McCaffrey was born on April 1st, 1926 with Cambridge in the Massachusetts. She makes until 1947 Slavic studies of languages and of literature (writing its first news with the college) then a career starts on the boards: comedy, song, put in scene… In 1950, it Marie (it divorces in 1970) and has three children, of 1950 to 1959.
While his/her children are at the school, it recovers to write: its first news published appears in 1967. It is at the time one of the very rare women writers of science fiction: it is besides the first woman to obtain a Hugo price in fiction. In 1968, it creates the saga of Pern, then in 1973, that of the Gifted ones.
At the time of the ceremony of handing-over of the Price Nebula 2005, Anne McCaffrey is elected 22e Grand Master . In 2006, it is registered with the Science Fiction Hall off Famed of the museum of the science fiction to Seattle.
Anne McCaffrey saw today in a named house Dragonhold Underhill - the Fort of the Dragons under the Hill , in the Comté of Wicklow in Ireland, surrounded by horses (one of its passions). She continues to write regularly.
