4.400

the 4.400 ( The 4400 ) is a American Televised series created by Scott Peters, produced by American Zoetrope (property of Francis Ford Coppola), and diffused since the July 11th 2004 on the network the USA Network. In Belgium, the series at summer diffused on Monday, February 6, 2006 on RTL-TVI. In France, the series was diffused starting from the February 2nd 2005 on M6 and was repeated starting from the November 7th 2006 on W9. With the Quebec, the series is diffused on Mystère and VAT.

Synopsis

A strange appearance occurred, or rather, 4.400 appearances! It is indeed the number of people who suddenly reappeared in the same place, whereas they had been reported missing for various durations (sixty years in a few months) during the 20th century.

For each one of them, time stopped, but they will take again their life in the world. Nobody knows what occurred, how that could occur. Several teams of the NTAC thus will have to inquire into them, to seek to discover the truth. One of the investigators, Tom Baldwin, makes a personal deal of it: his/her son and his nephew were together when, under unknown conditions, his/her son entered a length Coma and its nephew disappeared, to reappear three years later among the 4400.

The NTAC quickly will realize that some 4400 develop capacities paranormales, thanks to a Neurotransmetteur which they all have: the promicine.

The 4400 principal ones

  • Richard Tyler : Missing on May 11th, 1951, in South Korea during the War of Korea. It is originating in Saint Louis, Missouri. Then 29 years old, it maintained a relation with the grandmother Lily Moore , Lily Bonham. He is the father of Isabelle the second girl of Lily, with which he married. He occupies an important place in the center of the 4400. Capacity : Telekinesis .

  • Lily Moore-Tyler : Disappeared on May 26th, 1993 at age the 26 years to Orlando, Florida, but originating in Saint Louis, Missouri. Before its disappearance, she was married in Brian Moore and had just had a girl: Heidi. On its return, she realized that her husband had married another woman and that his/her own daughter did not know that she was her true mother. She realized also that she had returned pregnant, not of Brian, but of Richard Tyler. At the beginning of the 3rd season, it ages very quickly, passing from 29 to 70 years, then dies.

  • Shawn Farrel : Missing on April 22nd, 2001 with Highland Beach (Washington), at the 17 years age, he is the nephew of Tom Baldwin. Not succeeding in finding its place within its family, it takes refuge near Jordan Collier, millionaire who created " the foundation of the 4400". Shawn returned with the capacity to look after people of all the evils, it returns the sight to the blind men, looks after the Cancers… With died of Collar, it takes the head of the foundation. It maintains a relation with Isabelle Tyler, then tries to put an end to it, when it realizes how much Isabelle is dangerous. At the end of the 3rd season, He is hospitalized, in a state of Coma, after being attacked by Isabelle.

  • Jordan Collar (disappeared on April 10th, 2002): With the head of an immense fortune, it creates the center of the 4400 which proposes to the 4400 a refuge and fact of research on the reasons of these disappearances and this massive reappearance. He becomes the mentor of Shawn. He is assassinated by Kyle Baldwin, but its body disappears and Jordan reappears well in life at the end of season 3. After being returned with the head of the center of the 4400, it is combined with the Nova group, with the intention to distribute promicine to everyone. It with the capacity to remove the capacity of non-4400 people who acquired a capacity thanks to the promicine. (Episode 1 of season 4)

  • Maia Rutledge-Skouris : Disappeared at age the 8 years, it is the first disappeared: it was torn off with its family on March 3rd, 1946 with Crescent City in California. She is collected by Diana Skouris who adopts it in the 2nd season. She returned with the capacity to see the future.

  • Alana Mareva : Disappeared on September 5th, 2001, Alana Mareva is a 33 year old young woman belonging to the 4400. When it meets for the first time Tom Baldwin it is at his place, and everyone regards it as the woman of the agent of the NTAC, except precisely Tom who says never to have seen it. After him to have returned visit with the NTAC where Tom is interned, Alana makes him understand that she either does not know the world where they are. Prisoners both in this world, they will spend eight years together and will like. It is at the end of the eight years which Tom will discover that the world in which they are is localized in the spirit of Alana, that it created it without being conscious about it, which these eight years lasted only one second in truth, and that people of the future sent it to Tom with an aim of providing him an emotional support, which will help it to face future difficult tests in its life. Thus they could accumulate eight years of memories, and know each other instantaneously in the real-world. Alana then refuses to leave, not wanting to leave Kyle and all the things which they made in this world and to become again an unknown factor with the eyes of Baldwin. But by will to face reality, it will succeed in leaving there with Tom, while being convinced that nothing existed. Of return in the real-world, it is found with the NTAC where it had come to make examinations and finds Tom who did not finally forget anything of it. Alana deals with art gallery with Seattle. Originating in Tahiti, it carries the mourning of Paul, her husband Radiologue and Billy, his son, both deceased in an car accident. Its knowledge of the life of Tom after the eight years in its spirit makes easier its meeting with Kyle Baldwin and it will encourage it to follow its studies of medicine because if Kyle which it knew during these eight years there arrived, Kyle truth can it as much. It will play a big role to find it, after having discussed with Linda, then to arrange itself to make it leave the country to prevent a hypothetical arrest. Touched by the disease which reaches the 4400 it will digress and lose its reference marks, by mixing in its spirit the real-world and that drawn from its capacity. It is in majority for it that Tom will fight against the government, when it is quarantined. It will then be saved by Shawn.

Other main characters

  • Isabelle Tyler : girl of Lily Moore and Richard Tyler, it is born after the return from the 4400. She grows in one night at the end of season 2. Its mission is to eliminate the 4400. She has very many capacities paranormales and seems indestructible, before the injection of a product sent by the people of the future. It is thanks to (or rather because of) it, that thousands of amounts of promicine were manufactured.

  • Tom Baldwin : agent of the NTAC, uncle de Shawn Farrel and father of Kyle Baldwin. He is the partner of Diana Skouris. He has an love affair with Alana Mareva. He enters in relation by twice with people of the future who removed and brought back the 4400, and it is with him that they will give the syringe containing the product to be injected in Isabelle Tyler.

  • Diana Skouris : agent of the NTAC and partner of Tom Baldwin, it adopts, Maia, one of the 4400. At the beginning of season 3, it has a relation with Marco Pacella, one of her colleagues, but this history quickly will finish following a vision of Maia which says to him that it will marry with Ben, the new boyfriend of its April sister. She thus will have a history with this man by putting her sister at back. At the end of season 3, it leaves for 6 months on leave to Spain.

  • Kyle Baldwin : He is the son of Tom Baldwin and the cousin of Farrel. In the pilot of the series, one notes that the future wanted to take it him, but that Shawn having intervened, it is the latter which was taken. Kyle then fell into the coma. When 3 years later, Shawn the fate of the coma, Kyle is sometimes had by another person. This other person assassinates Jordan Collier. Kyle goes in prison a few months.   • Refusals Ryland : Director of the NTAC during the 1st season.   • April Skouris : She is the sister of Diana Skouris. She lives some time at Diana and deals with Maia. At the end of the season 3, one sees it with a syringe containing of the promicine.
  • Gary Navarro : It is one 4400 (missing on January 5th, 1973) which can read the thoughts. It is obliged to collaborate with the NTAC and to help them in certain missions. Finally, he disobeys to them and becomes fugitive.
  • Nikki Hudson : It is the boyfriend of Danny Farrel, then of Shawn before he leaves for the center the 4400. In season 3, it comes to ask of the assistance to Shawn. That does not prefer to join again with it, because Isabelle could want to kill it.
  • Danny Farrel : He is the brother of Shawn Farrel.

  • Kevin Burkhoff : Locked up in a psychiatric hospital for madness, it is " réveillé" by Tess Doerner.
