3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the engineers in chemical and technological arts

The 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Engineers in Chemical and Technological Arts (ENSIACET) is the largest European pole of formation of Engineer S in the field of the transformation of the matter. It is one of the three entities of the Institut National Polytechnique of Toulouse (INPT).

The ENSIACET (also called “A7”) belonged to the Conference of the Universities as of the Federation Gay-Lussac which gathers eighteen French schools of engineers in chemistry.

Vocation

The ENSIACET is an university which has the role to train high level engineers scientist and technical which wants to live with passion their community project in the field of the transformation of the matter since the Molécule until the industrial process. The ENSIACET, located at Toulouse in the district of Rangueil, belonged to the Institut National Polytechnique of this city.

History

The ENSIACET, 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Engineers in Chemical And Technological Arts, was born on January 1st, 2001 from fusion between the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of Chemistry of Toulouse (ENSCT) and the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Engineers in Chemical engineering (ENSIGC). The ENSCT and the ENSIGC, created respectively on April 4th, 1906 and on April 11th, 1949, contributed, by work which was undertaken there, to make Toulouse a competitive and gravitational French pole chemical for the companies.

Since the Catastrophe of the factory AZF of Toulouse (September 21st, 2001) and the destruction of the infrastructures of the school on the island of the Woodpigeon, a new school is under studies of construction. It will be located at the south east of Toulouse with Labège, near buildings belonging to the INPT and will be the second larger building of the Toulouse agglomeration after the hall of assembly of the A380. The removal of the ENSIACET of Rangueil towards Labège should take place during the year 2008, the re-entry 2008 front to be done in the new buildings.

Situation

Geographical presence

The ENSIACET is located at Toulouse with 118 Route de Narbonne, inside the campus of Rangueil which also shelters the Université Paul Sabatier and INSA. Located on the commune of Toulouse but apart from the peripheral, the school is easy as well access conveys some as in public transport. The school is indeed only to one hundred meters of the station “Faculty of Pharmacy” of the line B of the Toulouse subway. It is in addition served by buses 51 (Balma - University Paul Sabatier), 68 (Lespinet Struxiano - University Paul Sabatier) and 108 (St Orens - CHR Rangueil).

Infrastructures

The school occupies the old building of the ENSCT. Formerly distributed on two poles, the students of the ENSIACET were gathered in the buildings of Rangueil following the destruction of the infrastructures of the Woodpigeon by the explosion of factory AZF in September 2001. The building, a rectangle of three stages, is organized around a central patio. It concentrates in particular the three amphitheaters of the school (Mignonac, Riba and an anonymous amphitheater baptized amphitheater III) of a capacity of approximately 100 places each one, of a score of classrooms of a variable capacity from 20 to 50 places, rooms of practical works, laboratories, of a language laboratory (called “lab”), of a common room for the pupils (hearth or Kfet), of offices for the professors and a whole stage reserved for the administration.

For lack of place, classrooms, offices as well as the media library of the school are sheltered in algécos, outside the building. Moreover, the amphitheaters not being enough large to accommodate the courses of first half of the year of the pupils of first year (promotion of 400 people), these courses take place in the conference room of the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of Aeronautics and Space (Supaéro), on the other side of the Canal of the South, with ten minutes of walk of the school. In the same way, the school not having its own grounds of sport, the courses of EPS take place in various sporting installations neighborhood (swimming pool of Supaéro, gymnasium of the university, etc…) However, this situation is only temporary, the installation of the school in the new buildings of Labège having to take place with the re-entry 2008.

Schooling

Admission

The few 200 students who integrate each year the ENSIACET come in great majority from Preparatory classes at the conclusion which they passed the Common Concours Polytechnic (CPC). The entry with the ENSIACET is then function of the degree of success to the CPC and the selected department (CH, IMAT, GC, GPI or GI). Another considerable share of the students of the ENSIACET comes from CP, kinds of preparatory classes at the schools of chemistry. There too a contest makes it possible to classify the pupils. Lastly, certain students join the ENSIACET after having carried out two years of license to faculty. It should be noted that certain students join the school in second or third year following admission on title or of national or international exchanges.

Departments

The courses exempted with the ENSIACET approach all the phases of the process of transformation of the matter and energy. At the time of first half of the year of their schooling, the students of the ENSIACET follow all the same courses (joint base), the purpose of which is to get a comprehensive view of these processes to them, phase of fundamental research to the phase of industrialization of a product.

Thereafter, during the second half-year of the first year and the second year, the students are divided into five departments in which they will approach more in-depth the part of the process of transformation of the matter corresponding to their speciality. These departments are five:

Department Chemistry (CH), where the synthesis and the complex applications of molecules are taught, of natural products or synthetic.
Department Materials (IMAT), where the student learns science and technology from various materials and their composites
Département Chemical engineering (GC), where the student learns how to control the development of a product, chemical act until his industrialization.
Department Genius of the Processes and Data processing (GPI), where the student learns how to conceive and lead a process of transformation from matter or energy on the scientific levels, technical and economic.
Department industrial engineering (GI), where the student learns how to manage and develop an industrial process on the technique plans, economic and human.

Options of third year

In third year, teaching is still deepened by the choice of an option of specialization. According to his choice, the student can have to go to study in another school. 13 options are indeed proposed in A7:

Training courses

In addition to the courses, a7 student must carry out three obligatory training courses during his schooling: a working training course from 1 to 2 months at the conclusion of the first year, a training course technician 3 month old at the end of the second year and a training course engineer 6 month old to conclude its third and last year. The purpose of these training courses are the progressive discovery of the world of work and the world of the company and the concrete use of acquired knowledge in progress.

International relations

Conditions with obtaining the diploma

In the current mondialized company, a7 student must acquire an international experiment. This is why, obtaining the diploma of end of study is conditioned in addition to obtaining sufficient notes to partial, by the realization of three months a minimal stay abroad (training course or six-month period of study in a university partner) and by the control of the English language (minimal note of 750 with TOEIC).

Four recognized laboratories are related to the ENSIACET. They are implied in the poles of competitiveness `Cancer-Bio-Health', `Aéronautique, Espace, Systèmes Embarked', “AgriMip Innovation” and " in the network set of themes of advanced research `Sciences and Technologies for Aeronautics and Space'. Profiting from the recognition from CNRS and INRA and support of many industrialists, research at the same time academic, is attached there to the advance of knowledge and concerned of industrial applications.

These four laboratories are:

the CIRIMAT, Centers Inter-University of Research and Engineering of Materials.
the GROOVED one, Laboratory of chemical engineering
the LCA, Agro-industrial Chemistry laboratory
the LCC, Chemistry laboratory of Coordination

Approximately 125 doctorands work in these laboratories. They are framed by checheurs and research professors of the ENSIACET and carry out research on various subjects related to Chemistry. 50% of this research are related to industrial contracts.

In addition, the ENSIACET takes part in 22 programs of the National agency of Research (ANR) and in 9 European programs of the 6th PCRD (Outline programme of Research and development), including 2 as a coordinator.

Campus

Associations and clubs

The students of the ENSIACET have the possibility of integrating many clubs: club theater, movies, impro, rando, diving, veil, photograph, data base, roleplays, dance, music, kitchen (club arts of the table), beer (abbey of A7), pom pom, etc…

Junior-company FA7

The FA7 is the Junior Undertaken of the ENSIACET. Its role is to make discover with the students the world of the company in their making carry out missions remunerated near companies. Very studying ENSIACET can adhere to the FA7 realizing a contribution of 2€.

Offices

The offices are democratically elected by the totality of the students of A7, at the end one week of countryside which takes place in February. For each office, several lists of ten people must then be decided between.

BDE The Office of Raised deals with the integration of the first years, manages the whole of the clubs of the school, etc…

BDA The Office of Arts is in charge of the cultural activity of the school by proposing entries for concerts, spectacles, film shows, etc… It organizes also cultural week ends (week end in Barcelona, excursion with Toulouse bicycle - Carcassonne along the Channel of the South, etc…).

BDF The Office Of the Hearth is occupied in day of the cafeteria (Kfet), by selling viennoiseries, sandwiches and drinks. It is also him which deals with the organization of the evenings which have every approximately three weeks habituellment.

BDS The Office of the Sports proposes to take part in the various sporting tournaments and the university competitions of the FFSU.

SdP Sections Of Promotion, one by department. They manage the relationships to the admistration and the good progress of the schooling within each department. They are also charged to publish Tétaki, directory of the students of the school.

Events

The school year is rythmées by many events. Here is the nonexhaustive list:

the month of integration place during September has and prepares the first-year student coldly made at the festive life of the school. It is marked by famous Rallye in Toulouse during which students - disguised must follow a preset course. It is also during the month of integration that take place the barathon, the rally of the apparts, the evening sponsorship, etc…

the WEI or Week End d' Intégration, in fact the last three days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) conclude the Month from Integration. It takes place at the edge of the sea (the Mediterranean or Atlantic Ocean).

Week End in Barcelona , organized by the BDA during November, it is about a cultural week end organized jointly with the other schools of INPT. This is why the number of places is limited enough there.

the Official reception , it is the evening of the year during which the evening dress is obligatory.

Week ends sporting mark out year (INPIADES, TIC, Challenge of the Garonne, etc…). It is the occasion to face the other schools of the INPT, the schools of Chemistry of France, etc…

the evenings , organized throughout the year by the BDF (Haloween, Christmas, End of the year, etc…), they are famous in all the town of Toulouse.
