3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of physics of Marseilles

The 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of Physics of Marseilles or ENSPM (called SupPhy ) was created in 1959.

This ENSI trained the first 2 years the pupils in mathematics for the engineer and physics basic (quantum physics, statistical and physics solid state physics), also in electronics and data processing and languages, but especially in the 3 fields of excellence of the school: optics, treatment of the signal and semiconductors. The third year was a deepening in one of these 3 fields of excellence to the choice. The profile of engineer ENSPM was particularly appreciated for its multi-field formation in fields often associated in the trade of engineer. Many pupils found a trade in research and development possibly after having supplemented their studies by a doctoral formation. The school had strong international collaborations which made it possible in particular certain pupils to carry out their training courses or their third year of study abroad.

The price Pierre Cotton (in homage to the founder of the ENSPM) was decreed with the major of promotion.

The ENSPM was throughout its existence strongly related to LOSCM (Laboratory of optics of surfaces and the thin layers) located in its buildings of the campus of Jerome Saint in Marseilles. The LOSCM even amalgamated to him with LOE (electromagnetic Laboratory of optics) to form the Institut Fresnel which occupies from now on the buildings formerly allotted to the ENSPM.

The ENSPM dissolved by decree with the official journal in 2003 and was integrated into Marseilles school of engineers EGIM. The EGIM forms from now on the central École of Marseilles, member of the Intergroupe of the schools power station.
