3D Studio max

3D Studio max (or 3dsmax ) is a software of modeling and Animation 3D under license paying owner, developed by the company Autodesk. With Maya, Softimage XSI, Lightwave, Houdini and Blender, it is one of the knowledge robots in the field of the Infographie 3D.

The software is resulting from the program 3D Studio which turned under DOS to its version 4. The programmers of Kinetix (a division of Autodesk renamed now Autodesk Media and Entertainment) developed an entirely new and reconsidered software.

3dsmax is thus conceived on a modular architecture and supports plug-ins (extensions), as well as the scripts written in a language owner (Maxscript). The software developed quickly, while being used mainly within the framework of the Video game. It was also used in other fields, in particular the cartoon film with Kaena, prophecy. 3D Studio max is also used in a growing number of films of which: X-Men II, Bulletproof Monk, The Core, Final Destination II, Jason vs. Freddy.

The software is currently in version 2008 (3ds max 2008) and is developed by Autodesk (in the past called Discreet, which develops also Combustion and other professional software), and just of very many functionalities, like the Moteur of returned Mental Ray, as well as the plugin Shave and HairCut of Joe Alter for returned hair and of hair, innovations of version 8 or the engine of Animation of character Character Studio, associated with 3D Studio max in the form of a Plugin.

Gmax is a simplified and free version.
