3D Realms
3D Realms is a company of development and edition of video games, founded in July 1994 by Apogee Software, in order to answer waitings of the players as regards graphics 3D. The studio belongs today to Scott Miller which is chairman, like with George Broussard.
History
3D Realms leaves several plays based on the Build engine, developed by Ken Silverman:- Duke Nukem 3D (January 1996), which revolutionizes the world of the play of shooting in subjective sight (FPS) and détrône Doom .
- In April 1997, 3D Realms announces Duke Nukem Forever , the continuation of Duke Nukem 3D , developed with the engine of Quake II . But the play still did not leave (see the article devoted to with Duke Nukem Forever ). One speaks then about Vaporware.
- In May 1997, 3D Realms leaves Shadow Warrior (always under Build). The play meets a modest success.
3D Realms is the editor of max Payne and of its continuation (developed by Remedy Entertainment), as well as many episodes of Duke Nukem:
- Duke Nukem: Time to Kill (PlayStation) of N-Space
- Duke Nukem: Land off the Babes (PlayStation) of n-space
- Duke Nukem: Color Gameboy (Game Boy Color) of Torus
- Duke Nukem: zero hour (Nintendo 64) of Eurocom
- Duke Nukem Advance (Game Boy Advance) of Torus
- Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project (Windows) of Arush Ranges
- Mobile Duke Nukem (Mobile) of Machineworks
These plays take again the universe of Duke Nukem but only Duke Nukem Advance is a Jeu of subjective shooting. In 2006, 3D Realms always develops Duke Nukem Forever (since 9 years). 3D Realms is also the producer of the video game Prey (video game).
