- Ausone, Prefect of the court to Trier (376 - 379).

- Athanaric, king of Goths Thervinges (“foresters”) or Wisi (“wise, brave”), installed in current Romania since approximately 270, decides to defend against the Huns with the advertisement of the defeat of Ermanaric in 375. It installs its line of defense on banks of the Dniestr (Danaster), but surprised and is put in escape in Transylvania by the Huns which crossed the river (fine of the summer). After having decimated the wisigothic forces led by Alaviv and Fritigern, the Huns drive out them to the low Danube, where the latter propose in Rome to enter to its service if one lets them pass the river.
- Fall: The Visigoths which have occupied part of the Dacie for 150 years, require of the Romains, under the pressure of the Huns, to cross bottom the Danube. The permission is granted and they cross in mass the Danube under the control of their chief Fritigern. The emperor Valens recognizes them like federate. But the venality and the awkwardness of the Roman civils servant charged to proceed to the installation will cause a general rising the following year. perhaps
- the Visigoths count 40 000 people of which 8 000 soldiers.
- Later, the heir to the kingdom Ostrogoth, the Videric child, accompanied by his armed continuation (whose Ostrogoth Alatheus and Alain Saphrax), are presented in its turn on the the Danube to require asylum, but the Roman authorities refuse the passage to him. Benefitting from one moment of carelessness of the Roman fleet, he however manages to pass the river.
- Athanaric will have in its turn to flee of Transylvania to pass the the Danube at the end of 380. It will take refuge with Constantinople to humiliate itself personally in front of the emperor Théodose Ier (January 11th 381).
- After their victory, the Huns are occupied during a score of years to organize to them euro-Eastern empire.
- the villages and the cemeteries given up in the plain of bottom the Danube testify to the escape of Goths between 376 and 381. The Goths hide their jewels of money and of gold in Transylvania and leave there.
