36e regiment of infantry of line

The 36e Régiment of Infantry of Line (or 36e IH) is a Régiment of Infanterie of line made up at the end of the Ancien Mode.

Creation and various denominations

  • 1776 : Creation from 2nd and 4th Battalions of the Regiment of Aquitaine under the name of Regiment of Anjou
  • 1791 : Famous 36e Regiment of Infantry of Line
  • 1793 : Its 1st battalion forms the 71 {{E}} Half-Brigade of Infantry of Battle and its 2nd battalion the 72 {{E}} Half-Brigade of Infantry of Battle
  • 1914 : To the mobilization, it gives rise to the 236 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry
