Beginning of the reign in China of Fu Jian (Insane Kien), barbarian king of North (fine in 385).
- the Alains rejoin the army of the Huns in Western Asia.
- April 4th: Constance II grants to Julien the supreme command of military operations in Gaulle.
- April 28th: Constance II enters to Rome for the first time to celebrate its victory over Magnence, and to address themselves to the Senate and to the people of Rome.
- August: Julien demolishes the Alamans with the Bataille of Argentoratum (Strasbourg) and on the other side of the the Rhine rejects them.
- Alamans leave many prisoners, of which their king Chnodomar, that Julien sends captive to Rome. Julien takes again the offensive and by three times, the the Rhine crosses and relates the war to the territory of Alamans (357, 358, 359) which must deposit the weapons. It installs its general headquarter with Lutèce.
- With the battle of Strasbourg, Julien can join together only 13 000 men.
