Events
- May 1st: Voluntary abdications of both Roman Emperors Maximien and Dioclétien.
- Dioclétien is withdrawn with Salone where he dies in 314. Constance Chlorinates and Caius Galerius Valerius Maximianus takes the title of Auguste and associates two new Césars of origin illyrienne, Maximin Daïa and Sévère.
- Dioclétien, even once withdrawn in Salone (Split), continuous to receive a personal worship worthy of an alive god. To this imperial worship that of the Rome goddess is added, present in the majority of the cities, as well as Hercules and of selected Jupiter like guards by each of the two emperors.
- In Occident, the imperial court is transported Rome to Milan.
- Lutèce takes the name of city of the Parisii (v.305-310)
- Palais of Dioclétien to Spalato (current Split, in Croatia).
- Arnobe defends the Christianisme ( Against pagan the ).
- Mode of corporative constraint: to ensure the provisioning of Rome, Dioclétien obliges the boatmen ( navicularii ) to transport the tax goods free and declares them responsible for the delivery.
- Council of Illibéris (Elvire or Alarife, in Andalusia), which issues the celibacy of the priests. He condemns the narrow frequentation of the Jews. The Christian women do not have the right to marry Juifs, unless they did not convert. The Jews do not have the right to accommodate with their table of the Christians, who they are laic or priests, cannot have Christian wives, nor to bless the fields of the Christians (305 - 306).
- Council of Cirta in Africa. The donatists, directed by the bishop of Numidie Donat, criticize and condemn those which disavowed their faith during persecutions.
- César Maximin Daïa (305-313) persecutes the Christians of Egypt of which much takes refuge in the desert and enlarges the rows of the Anachorète S (those which are put at the variation) and of the coenobite S (those which live in community), which will spread thereafter the monastic life in everyone Christian. In these monasteries the writing copte develops which supports the propagation of the Christian texts.

Martyrdom of Holy Serge in Syria.
- September 19th: Decapitation of holy January, bishop of Bénévent, owner of Naples and Rio de Janeiro, and of its two deacons Proculus and Sosius with the forum located close to the volcano Solfatara at Naples, on the order of the proconsul Timothée.
- Porphyry of Tyr, Syrian philosopher neoplatonician (born in Tyr in 234, died in Rome).
