2nd regiment parachutist of marines

The 2nd regiment parachutist of marines is a unit of Infanterie parachutist of the French Army created in 1947.

He is heir to the glory of the parachutists of the free France and the colonial parachutists.

History

Formed in England starting from the companies of the air, the 2 {{E}} R.C.P is parachuted in Brittany on June 5th, 1944 when it particularly will be illustrated before being used as flank-guard of the army Patton.

In 1947, the 2 {{E}} Colonial Battalion Commandos Parachutists share in Indo-China, where it will fight until 1953 in 02 stays (1947-1949 and 1950-1953) quoted three times at the order of the army.

In 1955, the regiment égiment takes the name of 2nd R of P arachutists C oloniaux (by regrouping 1st, 5th and 8th dissolved B.P.C) then, in 1958 of 2nd Regiment of Parachutists of Marines. It serves as 1955 to 1962 in North Africa. November 5th, 1956 at the time of the Crisis of Suez Canal, it jumps in two waves to Port Saïd (Opération Musketeer) and it is quoted with the order of the Army.

In July 1961, it jumps on Bizerte and breaks the Tunisian pressure on the French airport installations.

Dissolved on July 5th, 1962, the 2nd RPIMa is recreated on January 1st, 1965 with Ivato (Madagascar) starting from the 5 {{E}} Bataillon of Parachutists of marines.

It joined the Meeting in 1973 or it integrates in its center the 2nd company of Bourbon company of tradition of the island and including one large ancestor is the Régiment of the volunteers of the Bourbons (1799). Since the Meeting, it takes part in various operations: Djibouti (1993/1994) the Comoros (1990) Rwanda (1994) the Comoros (1995/1996).

Traditions
