2nd regiment of the genius

The 2nd regiment of the genius is the regiment of tradition of the town of Metz. Closely related to this city, it has shared of them for 184 years the joys and the tests. Its currency " Lorraine keeps me " mark the attachment with its area and its history. Created on May 12th 1814 per royal decree starting from the battalions of sappers and minors who had taken part in the campaigns of the Revolution and the Empire, the 2nd regiment of the genius takes part in all the military campaigns of the 19th century.

Become in 1998 the regiment of assistance to the deployment of the Brigade of the Genius , it takes part since many years in external operations.

The " 2nd RG" is composed of seven companies of which a unit of reserve:

a company of command and logistics;
two companies of production of water;
a company of energy production;
a company of operational infrastructure;
a company of administration and support;
a unit of reserve of professionnalized regiment (URRP).

Missions

To produce and distribute electrical energy thanks to the electrical engineers and with the generators of 80 kw and 400 kw.

To produce drinking water and medical by specialists water being used the materials as water treatment.

To rehabilitate the partially destroyed buildings or to set up bungalows for the lodging of the deployed forces thanks to the specialists operational infrastructure and to the workshops all trades.

To take part in the protection of the forces deployed by the realization of works thanks to the action of specialists work serving as the machines in building site.
