The 27e brigade of infantry of mountain includes/understands the following units:

Formerly, it also included/understood:

the 159e regiment of alpine infantry (Briançon) transformed since into National center of inurement in mountain (CNAM)
the 11th battalion of Alpine hunters (Barcelonnette), transformed into Center of Instruction and Drive to the Combat into Mountain (CIECM)
the 6th battalion of Alpine hunters (Grenoble), now dissolved.

During the winter 1944 - 1945, division constitutes the " Detachment of Army of Alpes" integrated in the 6th Group of Army U.S. It has the role of protecting the valleys from the Alps against the troops of the Axis which hold the collars. It endures hard combat with the Black Roc, with the Cold Mont, the Col of Larche, the Authion. According to some, " The tenacity and the dash of the troops make it possible, nevertheless, in France to obtain its only territorial profits at the conclusion of the second world war thanks to corrections of border giving to France the possession peaks. But the advance of the forces of the detachment of Army of the Alps for Milan and the suburbs of Turin is stopped brutally by the American command which gives the order of fold immédiat." Of 1945 to 1954, the alpine units are troops of occupation in Austria, directed in particular by the general Béthouart.
Of 1954 to 1962, they are useful in Algérie, especially in the mounts of Grande Kabylie. A thousand of alpine fall in Algeria.

1962 : after the return of the War of Algeria, the alpine troops are gathered in the 17th brigade and 27e brigade (the 27e alpine division then seems to have disappeared).
1976: the general Michel Thénoz recreated the 27e alpine division . Division gives to the Troops of Mountain their current badge and creates inter alia the military Groupe of high mountain (GMHM), established in Grenoble then with Chamonix with the Military academy of high mountain (EMHM) which is made known by sporting exploits (North pole, Everest and South pole).
1993 or 1996: because of the fall of manpower of the French Army, the 27e division of infantry of mountain (27e DIM) is reduced to the row of 27e brigade of infantry of mountain (27e BIM).
" Alpins" 27e brigade of infantry of mountain intervened with the Lebanon, Chad, Bosnia, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan.
