260 electric
Ordered with the title of the electrification of the section Ujo - Busdongo, sul the line of Pajares, the 6000 is the first electric machines of the Norte but also the first machines in 3000 continuous volts of Spain.
Design
The 6000 are typically American machines. ALCO builds the mechanical parts (n° 63213 to 63218/1923), General Electric the electric parts (n° 8704 to 8709/1923). The weight by axle is of 13,5 tons, limits imposed by many works of art of the line. These machines are equipped with the regenerative braking and the vacuum brake Clayton.
Service
Planned for the trailer of the trains travellers and goods, the 6000 carry out the essence of their career on the slope of Pajares. The delivery of the 7700 and 7800 , in the years 1950, relegates them to more secondary spots. They all are reformed about 1975, without never to have left the Asturies. The 6005 is preserved and exposed to the museum of Madrid - Delicias.
