If one bases oneself however on certain actual facts evoked in the series (such as the presidency of Ronald Reagan for example), seasons 1 to 6 would respectively proceed in March 2004, September 2005, September 2008, March 2010, September 2011 and finally May 2013. This information however is contradicted by the creators, informant that the series is timeless with an aim of remaining in a " present perpétuel".

It should be noted that in the episode of 7:00 to 8:00 of the first season, one of the cameramen of the plate can be seen at approximately 13 minutes of the departure of the episode, when Nina tries to join the HQ, it is then crossed by the edge of the image, but he is clearly visible on the line.
- Then in the episode of 12:00 to 13:00 of the first season, the 26e minute, whereas Jack Bauer and her family are held at the edge of the lake to join the water tower, Kim advances while saying to his/her father " y' has anybody in the corner, you see " well;. But on the left of the image, a man (a technician) is held sitted on grass with three meters of it… what to contradict Kim Bauer!
- And for the third time in the first season, another technician appears on the screen during the last episode: at 16 minutes and 43 seconds, whereas Jack is made draw above, a head provided with a helmet (in background and with one meter of him) looks at it drawing!
- During the interrogation of Jack Bauer by Alberta Green, one sees, on the left of the image, a camera on foot which is in the field.
- During the final scene of combat (the exchange of shots, in the last episode), one can see, behind Jack Bauer, filmed in low-angle shot drawing, the head of a helmeted man who does not have anything to make there: probably a technician of turning.
- At the time of the interrogation of Jack Bauer by Alberta Green, episode 15 (Enters 14 and 15 hours) at approximately 5 minutes of the beginning, more precisely just before Jack Bauer proposes in Alberta Green to take a pause, on the right screen one can perceive what seems to be part of an apparatus being used for turning (of square form with a bent wire, probably a camera).
Comments
This serial is rather original in its concept. Indeed, the one season action of the serial proceeds over 24 hours almost in real-time. The action is also characterized in each season by a complex intrigue which handles the spectator through multiple bounces.24 the one season episodes represent each one 1 hour over one period 24 hours. Each episode lasts approximately 45 minutes (Générique and recall of the preceding episode included/understood, is approximately 40 minutes effective) but is diffused in 60 minutes in the United States taking into account the advertizing cuts.
24 hours stopwatch is one of rare works treating of the Terrorisme not to be stopped by the attacks of the September 11th, 2001.
To also note that there exists fine an alternative of the first season. The first end is that where the woman of Jack dies in these arms while in the second, it awakes and embraces Jack while their daughter comes to join them. It would thus seem that the scenario writers preferred not to make a " Happy End" since the two ends were turned.
Kiefer Sutherland would have touched 15 million dollars for the 4th season of the serial!
The authors of the serial approach the topic of the enemies of their country: the former Serb war leaders in the first season (recalling the civil war in Bosnia-Herzégovine and the intervention to the Kosovo). The second season, on the other hand, approaches in full international debate on the American intervention in Iraq against the mode of Saddam Hussein, islamist terrorism . The serial illustrates the ends where a fight against terrorism could arrive when the terrorists are acting: a federal agent killing out of coolness a suspect in order to infiltrate a network, threatens to kill out of the children to obtain information, etc
If the third season returns to “traditional” enemies more like gangster Mexican or Russian put in scene, it preserves the Violence which marks this serial: free murder by the “malicious S”, sacrifice of an agent on order of a terrorist.
The role of president of the United States is as difficult to hold as that which holds the Bauer agent. President Palmer is between the two poles of his capacity:
- household head and political leader, it must manage the family conflicts and the attacks of its adversaries,
- and in same time, with the head of the country, it must face cruel choices.
Some consider that this serial emphasizes the American heroism in a definitely politicized way, justifying the choices made by the American governmental administration and validating, by the fiction, the mythology on which are based these choices. In season 3, Jack Bauer, the man of action, and chair it Palmer, betray the principles which they want to defend and negotiate with the terrorists. President Palmer is confronted with cornéliens choices and must for example accept the principle of a murder or an act of torture. It is then Jack Bauer (the hero) who saves the face of the president by making the “dirty job”. In the following season, the terrorists are the islamist ones. Many estimates that this season distills stereotypes on the Muslim world. The most fanatic terrorists have the direction of the sacrifice at the point to commit suicide or assassinate their own children for the cause. For some, the serial emphasizes the policy of George Bush, and presents the pacifist ideas like a form of irresponsibility and weakness of spirit. Some see in 24 hours stopwatch a political message which supports American interventionism, justifies torture and makes pass Amnesty International (fame Amnesty Global ) for an organization which gives impunity to the terrorists and embarrassment those which prevent them from harming. Episode 6 of season 4 is dedicated to the lieutenant-colonel Dave Greene, to pilot of helicopter and higher graded American with being dead in Iraq at the time. There does not exist for the moment that very few tests devoted to the evolution of the political message of 24 hours stopwatch .
The defenders of the serial stress that the origin of the terrorists is varied during the various seasons: Serbia, the United States, the Middle East, Mexico, England, Turkey, Russia… An episode of season 4 puts in scene two Moslems who fight at the sides of Jack Bauer, in the same way in the season 2 where an Imam tries to reason a " suspect" by saying to him that it makes very safe follow its religion with such acts, to show that Moslem truths condemn the terrorist acts. During season 2, a young Moslem is with the departure suspected of belonging to the terrorists, and finally it is not him, but American of good family. The true interests of the terrorists of this season are not financial monks but. The terrorists of this season are directed by American of which the goal is to cause a war for their oil interests. For much, the end of season 2 is thus perceived like a criticism of the policy of George Bush. Besides seasons 4 and 5 put in scene a president of the United States hesitating, highly-strung person and incompetent to make decisions. At the end of season 5, one even discovers that the president is guilty of high treason since it proves to be the instigator of the events which have occurred during this day. According to the fans of the serial, 24 hours stopwatch does not aim to make pass any political message: it nothing but does take as a starting point the topicality. It as should be remembered as in season 2, the president of the United States condemns an entry in war against countries of the Middle-East whereas all the light was not made on the attacks in Los Angeles. This decision corresponds to opposite of that of George Bush who invaded two countries following the attacks of September 11th.
The Cell anti-terrorist
The Cell anti-terrorist ( CAT , in French) or Counter Terrorist Unit ( CTU , in English) is a fictitious branch of the CIA. Its seat is located at Washington, cd. but the serial is centered mainly on the cell of Los Angeles.
In the first season, the branch of Los Angeles is directed by the special agent Jack Bauer which leaves then this one after the death of his wife. George Mason takes the control of the cell until episode 9 of the second season. Tony Almeida takes the control of the cell then and remains the director of the branch of Los Angeles for the remainder of the season, and part of the third season, until it helps an old agent of MI6 become terrorist (Stephen Saunders) to escape. Indeed, this one had taken as an hostage Michelle Dessler, the woman of Tony. Jack Bauer takes the control of the cell then temporarily, until the arrival of Brad Hammond. In the fourth season, a new director arrived at the CAT, it acts of Erin Driscoll, which will resign following the suicide of his/her Maya daughter reached of schizophrenia. Tony will take again the vacant station left while waiting for that division sends one rather or one replacing. It is Michelle who will replace Tony until the end of season 4. After the fourth day, Tony and Michelle decide to thus recover together and leave their respective work with the CAT. It is then Bill Buchanan which takes the command of the cell, until the middle of season 5. The CAT is then absorbed by the Department of Defense and is then directed by Karen Hayes.
This government agency is under the control of the HQ of the division of the cell, simply called “Division” in the serial.
