24 hours of Mans motor bike

The 24 hours Of Mans motor bike are a competition of Endurance motor bike being held on the Circuit Bugatti of Mans.

Appearing in the Championship of the World of Endurance, the 24 hours motor bike attract each year nearly 100.000 spectators. Conveying a recent past in charge of excess in any kind, the Automobile Club of the West (ACO) decided to give again with this mythical race its noble letters.

A concurrent race

The 24 hours of Mans motor bike find their origin in the mythical race of the Bol of gold which reappeared in 1969 on the Autodrome of Linas-Montlhéry, after a few years without race.

In 1978, the Automobile Club of the West, organizer of the 24 hours of automobile Mans, organizes the 24 hours of Mans motor bike in partnership with the weekly newspaper specialized Moto Newspaper which wanted to compete with the other large weekly magazine organizing motorcylcist Re-examined Moto of the Gold Bowl. The Gold Bowl moves then on the circuit of Castellet (known as “Paul Ricard”), in the Var.

Traditionally the 24 hours of Mans motor bike proceed as follows:

Thursday makes the good share with the first meetings of tests. The qualificative sleeves of various the cups (cuts) also take place. The evening is marked by the tests of night.
Friday, continuation and end of the tests qualifiers and the qualificative sleeves of the cups. A final of cut is also with the program. The evening is completed with the visit of the Paddock S.
Saturday morning, the Warm up comes to be intercalated between the last morning finales. During the pause of midday, a TEAM of acrobatics a show presents before does not begin, towards 14:30, the ceremonial of the pre-grid followed by 2 turns of heating for the machines. The famous departure with the " Mans" , where the pilots spring while running towards their machine, is then given to 3 p.m. Simultaneously with the race, around 6 p.m., the runs start on the level of connection and of with dimensions of Dunlop the concert makes hear its sound system towards 21:30.
Sunday morning, early is one magic moment, where the circuit is quasi deserted by the public. The race beats full sound and the luminosity offers superb images. At 3 p.m., race end and opening of the track to the public, which ritually invades the straight line of the platforms to reach the podium.

If the first 24 hours of Mans motor bike disputed with crews made up of 2 pilots per motor bike, the number will pass to 3 a few years later (as with the Bol of gold).

Test of the Championship of the World of Endurance

The 24 hours of Mans belong to the Championship of the World of Endurance. However, that was not always the case. Indeed, on 2002 to 2005, the three tests which are 24 hours of Mans motor bike, the gold Bowl and the 24 hours of cork decide to create the " Master off Endurance" and to leave the championship of the world.

In 2006, the 24 hours of Mans motor bike reinstates the world championship of Endurance, after four years of a missed secession.
