24 hours of Daytona

the 24 hours of Daytona (test officially called Rolex 24 At Daytona ) is a race of endurance of sport scars which is held each year since 1966 with Daytona Beach in Florida on the circuit Daytona International Speedway . It took as a starting point the mythical French automobile race of the 24 Hours of Mans, introduced in 1923 and very popular in the USA.

History

Since 1991, the mark of watches Suisse S Rolex is the sponsor in title of the race, to replace the bank Sunbank which had previously replaced Pepsi in this role. The winners of each category receive like price a Rolex Cosmograph out of steel of the mark with the logo like l´année of the race engraved on the back. These models among are coveted and most difficult to obtain mark.

In 2006, the course of the race was advanced d´une week (the last week of January) to avoid being held at the same time as the Super Bowl which had been advanced d´une week a few years earlier. In fact, the two events then simply reversed their dates.
