  • In Rome the year is marked by 5 imperial designations and the death of 5 emperors:
    • March 7th: Beginning of the reign of Gordian Gordian Ier associated with II, his/her son, Roman Emperors. Gordian, proconsul of Africa, proclaims emperor with Thysdrus: the Sénat joins with him at the end of March.
    • April 12th: Gordien II is killed with Carthage by Capelianus, legate of Numidie. His/her father and associated Gordien Ier commits suicide.
    • April 22nd: Beginning of the reign of Balbin associated with Maxime Pupien, Roman Emperors.
    • June 17th: End of the reign of Maximin Thrace, Roman Emperor. With the advertisement of the proclamation of Gordian, Maximin Thrace makes go its troops of the edges of the the Danube towards the Italy. He is assassinated by his soldiers the June 17th.
    • July 29th:
      • the Praetorian ones massacre Pubien and Balbin, elected by the Sénat by reaction against military tyranny.
      • Beginning of the Gordian reign of III, Roman Emperor. > 244. With the assistance of its prefect of the court Timesitheus, he will fight successfully against the German ones and Persians.

  • the Goths, come from Ukraine, cross for the first time the the Danube and devastate the empire until in Anatolia.
