In France, it was the Compagnie of the North (of which the research department was always very dynamic), the Compagnie of the East, the Compagnie of the PLM and the Réseau of Al which reflect in work these types of engines whose majority were Baltic . Only the Compagnie of North under the impulse of Marc de Caso wanted to carry out Hudson but the creation of the SNCF made that it was it which brought them into service: ; Network of Al: 8301 to 8366 series T 17 of 1905 with 1913, future: 1-232 TB 301 to 3668401 to 8427 series T 18 of 1915 with 1918, future: 1-232 TC 401 to 427 ; Company of the East: 3901 to 3940 series 11 of 1904 and 1909, future: 3901 to 33940 series 11 S (a) (following transformations), future: 1-232 MT 901 to 940 ; Company of North: 3801 to 3865 of 1908 brought into service in the northern suburbs of Paris, future: 2-232 T ?

The United States
It is the Alco which built the first 232-tender for the New York Central in 1924. It is at that time that one gave them the name of Hudson . Milwaukee Road also implemented Baltic in 1930. In 1938 the company brought into service of the shaped 232 which were then the fastest engines.
