2010: the year of the first contact

2010: the year of the first contact ( 2010 ) is an American film carried out by Peter Hyams, left in 1984. It is the adaptation of the continuation of the book of 2001: the odyssey of space , left in 1968 and carried out by Stanley Kubrick.

Synopsis

After 2001: the odyssey of space , 2010 is the continuation where American and Soviet seek to know what became HALL 9000.

The director of the preceding mission, the engineer who designed the spaceship Discovery and the creator of the computer, leave with a Soviet team on board the spaceship Leonov . Whereas on Earth the tensions are to the maximum and that the war is about to burst, the scientists of the two camps will have to link itself to include/understand the origin of the madness of HALL and to survive.

  • In film, on the cover of a Time Magazine which a nurse reads, the President of the United States is represented by Arthur C. Clarke and the First secretary of the Soviet Union by Stanley Kubrick.
  • One of the pods is still on board the Discovery whereas there should not remain only one about it any more: first was lost when Frank was killed, second was given up by Dave when it reinstated the vessel by the hatchway of help, and it used the third by leaving the Discovery , in the last part of 2001 . Perhaps Dave it recovered one of the pods after the disconnection of HALL; but it would have been useless and difficult to only do it and without the assistance of HALL.
