These 5 wise will be able to come to a conclusion about all the related questions with the promotion and the maintenance of peace, safety and stability in Africa.
    • the General secretary of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, intervened with the meeting of opening to present its action plan for Africa, in particular on the conflicts and the consequences of climate warming.
  • the 9th top of the heads of state and government of the African Union opened on July 2nd with Accra (Ghana). The day order relates to the constitution of a African government to prepare the United States of Africa. The African leaders are divided on this question. The president Libya N Mouammar Kadhafi who carries out the combat for this idea, is supported by the president Senegal board Abdoulaye Wade and chair it Gabon board Omar Bongo Ondimba. The 9th top of Cen-Sad took place June 2nd and 3rd with Syrte (Libya), under the presidency of the Head of Libyan State Mouammar Kadhafi, President-in-Office of the organization. The day order related to food safety, the natural stock management and the creation of a free exchange zone. Cen-Sad accommodated two new countries: The Guinea and the the Comoros. The African leaders launched calls with peace to Somalia and Sudan, where they exhort different the parties to ratify the peace agreement and refuse the intervention of the foreign forces.

  • Summit of Ouagadougou: the 31 E top of the African western organization was held with Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) on January 19th, 2007. The Gambia and the Cape Verde were absent from this top. At the institutional level, the top adopted the transformation of the executive secretariat by a commission, chaired by the Ghanaian Mohamed Ibn Chambas. The Burkinabe president Blaise Compaoré becomes President-in-Office. The crisis of the Ivory Coast and the general strike started by the trade unions and the opposition in Guinea also were with the day order. CEDEAO decided the sending of a regional mediation made up of the Senegalese presidents Abdoulaye Wade and Nigerian Olusegun Obasanjo.
  • Summit of Abuja: the Heads of State of CEDEAO met in Abuja for the 32e top of the African western organization. They adopted the “Vision strategic” consisting in transforming West Africa into an area without border from here at 2020.

  • Forum of the people: the 6th edition of the gathering altermondialism|altermondialist]] was held with Sikasso with the Mali from June 4th to 8th 2007 with representatives of the social movements of several African countries (Mali, Bénin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Guinea) and Westerners. The participants denounced a fall of the development assistance towards Africa on behalf of the countries of the G8 contrary to their promises made in 2005 in Scotland.

Elections

  • Algeria: With the legislative elections, the face of national release (FLN), directed by the chief of the Algerian government Abdelaziz Belkhadem, arrived at the head with 136 seats out of 389, according to the preliminary assessment announced by the Local government agency and Minister of Interior Department Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni. The democratic national Gathering (RND), led by the former chief of the government Ahmed Ouyahia, and the Mouvement of the company for peace (MSP, islamist moderate) arrive respectively in 2nd and 3rd positions with 61 and 52 seats.   • Mauritania:
    • the senatorial elections are held the January 22nd (1st turn) and on February 4th (second turn). For resulting from the first turn, 38 seats were provided on the 56, including 23 gained seats independent candidates and 8 by Coalition with the forces with the democratic change (opposition to the former president Maaouiya Ould Taya.
    • the first turn of the presidential election Mauritanian of 2007, was held on March 11th, 2007 in the calm one except for an armed attack against an office of the prefecture in Kaedi resulting in the death of a guard.   • Senegal:

    • Of the legislative elections were to take place on February 25th, 2007. But, following the cancellation of an order in Council on the distribution of the deputies by the Council of State, they are deferred to June 3rd. Boycotted by the principal parties of the opposition, they were gained by presidential coalition SOPI 2007.
  • Seychelles : the legislative elections were held from May 10th to 12th 2007 and were gained by the party in power, the popular Front progressist of Seychelles (FPPS).

  • Sierra Leone: Of the legislative elections and presidential were organized the 11 August 2007. The legislative elections were gained by the opposition. At the first turn of the presidential election, Ernest Bai Koroma of the Congress of all people (APC), arrived at the head with 44,3% of the voices in front of the outgoing vice-president, Solomon Berewa which obtains 38,3%. September 8th, Ernest Bai Koroma gained the second turn of the presidential election with 54,6% of the voices.

  • Radhika Coomaraswamy, representing special the United Nations for the children in the armed conflicts finished a round with the Sudan and affirmed that the numbers of children soldiers continue to increase.

  • In a report published with Geneva, the special mission of the Conseil of the human rights of the the United Nations on the situation in the Sudanese area of Darfur concludes that “ the war crimes and the crimes against humanity continue in the area ”, showing the government to have orchestrated itself and taken part in these crimes. The conference ended in a call to continue the peace process in which the African Union and UNO play a main role. None the rebellious groups of Darfur took part in the conference. The participants announced to a meeting with the rebellious groups not signatory of the peace agreement of May 2006 would take place Arusha (Tanzania) next from August 3rd to 5th to fix the date and the place for negotiations between government and rebels. July 6th, the United front for the release and the development was created by 5 rebellious factions of the Darfur: two rival tendencies of the Armed with release of Sudan, Forces of the revolutionary democratic Face, the National movement for the reform and the development and the federal democratic Alliance of Sudan, for the forthcoming negotiations on the payment of the conflict.
  • the Safety advice of the United Nations unanimously adopted the resolution 1769 which authorizes the deployment of a hybrid force UNO/African Union with the Darfur. This force, of a cost estimated at 2 billion dollars, named Unamid, will consist of approximately 26.000 soldiers and police officers. The Sudanese government stated on August 1st to approve this resolution.
