- January 23rd: Canadian Federal election of 2006. The Conservative party of Canada makes elect 124 Député S with the House of Commons of Canada, demolishing the liberal Paul Martin, which will form the official opposition. Stephen Harper is elected Prime Minister of Canada to the head of a Minority government. It will be sworn in the February 6th.
February
- February 4th: Race with the direction of PLC. The race with the succession of Paul Martin beats wing, several successors potential refused to want to take part in the race with the direction of the Liberal party of Canada, such as Frank McKenna (outgoing ambassador of the Canada to the the United States) as well as the liberal former ministers Brian Tobin, John Manley and Allan Rock.
