The 1st Regiment of marines is a Régiment French heir to the colonial Infanterie . It is one of the oldest regiments of the Troupes of navy, with the 2 {{E}}, then the 3rd regiment of marines as well as the 4 {{E}} (dissolved in 1998), then their brother in arms the 1st marine artillery regiment which represents famous the blue division.

Creation and various denominations

Heir to the “company frank of the sea” created in 1622 by Richelieu, 1st RIMa was created by royal decree in 1822 within the ministry for the marine . Inter-war period

Second world war

The mobilization of the colonial troops in 1939-1940. The 3rd colonial division, general Falvy: 1st, 21e 23e R.I.C. ; 3rd and 203e R.A.C. The 3rd colonial division will be sacrificed magnificiently.
