The 1st Régiment of Infanterie of line (1st IH) is the oldest European regiment. Created starting from the old woman band of Picardy under the Old Mode, it belongs to the Five Old men. It was particularly distinguished with Fleurus in 1794, with Moeskirch in 1800 and with Biberach in 1800.
