1st regiment of hussards parachutists
The 1st Regiment of hussards , today 1st regiment of hussards parachutists , is a regiment made up at the end of the Ancien Mode. It was distinguished during the Napoleonean wars in particular with Jemmapes (1792), with Castiglione (1796), with Eylau (1807) and with Oporto (1809).
Creation and various denominations
- 1720 : The hussards of Bercheny , raised in Alsace - Lorraine by the ''' count de Bercheny ''', patriotic Hungarian proscribes by the Habsbourg, put at the service France.
- 1791 : It becomes the 1st Regiment of Hussards
- 1815: It becomes the 1st Regiment of Hussards of the Jura
- 1940: Following the armistice with Germany
- 1945 dissolves: Recreated by the Resistance under the name of Regiment of Recognition of the 25e division
- 1946: Becomes 1st Regiment of Hussards Parachutistes within the 25 {{E}} Airborne Division, at the time of its departure for Algeria.
- 1961 : The July 11th the regiment leaves the Algérie and unloads two days later with Marseilles, settles temporarily the July 14th with the camps of Mourmelon. The August 30th, the 1st RHP leaves to Sedan to the Fabert district. The November 6th, the regiment finds Tarbes and the Larrey district. It is then articulated in 3 squadrons of recognition on jeeps and a squadron of instruction.

Specific attribute
The 1st RHP has its own beret: The amaranth parachutist (the " beret rouge") is associated with the badge of beret of the parachutists of metropolis (the " macaroon of the TAP métro") but this one is related to a " hongroise" (distinctive sign of the hussards which symbolizes the lines of brandebourgs in white wire laid out on the dolman and the fur-lined coat of the uniform of the hussards of the old mode).
