1st regiment of cuirassiers
The 1st Regiment of Cuirassier S is a Régiment made up during the Guerre Thirty Year old by the prince Bernard of Saxony-Weimar (ally of the Sweden) to fight against the Austria. It made to the service of the France after the Accords of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer the October 26th 1635. It was distinguished during the wars from the Revolution and the Empire in particular with Jemmapes (1792), Austerlitz (1805), Eylau (1807), with the Moskova (1812). Moreover it is the oldest regiment of armoured tanks in the French Army . Its traditions are today continued by the group of squadrons 1st cuirassiers of the 1 {{er}} - 11 {{ème}} regiment of cuirassiers.
Creation and various denominations
- 1635 : enter to the service of France under the name of ''' Trefsky-Cavalry ''' in the honor of its colonel: the colonel Trefsky
- October 17th 1641: ''' Flextein-Cavalry ''' following the repurchase of the regiment by the colonel Flextein
- 1649 becomes : becomes ''' Nimitz-Cavalry ''' following promotion of colonel Flextein and with the nomination of Nimitz to the head of the regiment
- June 3rd 1651: becomes ''' Turenne-Cavalry ''' following its repurchase by the marshal of Turenne.
- April 24th 1657: Régiment Colonel-General cavalry in the honor of his owner the marshal of Turenne becomes the which has been just named colonel-general of the cavalry.
- 1791 : becomes the ''' 1 {{er}} Régiment of Cavalry '''.
- 1801 : becomes the ''' 1 {{er}} Régiment of Cavalry-Cuirassiers '''.
- 1803 : 1st Regiment of Cuirassiers becomes .
- 1814 : becomes ''' Cuirassiers of the King ''' following the Restauration of monarchy.
- 1815 : for the Hundred Days 1st Regiment of Cuirassiers becomes again.
