1st marine artillery regiment

The 1st regiment of marine artillery is established with Laon (Aisne) since 1993. It is the artillery regiment of the 2 {{E}} armor-plated Brigade (2eBB).

It is one of oldest the regiment of Artillerie of navy, with his brothers in arms, the 1 {{er}}, 2 {{E}}, 3 {{E}}, 4 {{E}} regiment of marines with famous the blue Division.

Creation and denominations

1622 : Creation by the Cardinal of Richelieu of the frank and ordinary companies of the sea. These companies, in charge of the service at sea, include/understand bombers.

1692 : The bombers are gathered in the Corps of Artillerie of the Navy , ancestor of the 1erRAMa.

1803 : Creation of a regiment within the marine artillery Body.

1900 : The troops become colonial and pass under the authority of the Army: The regiment becomes 1st Regiment of colonial artillery (1st RAC).

1940 : The regiment is dissolved with the armistice.

1945 : The 1erRAFFL takes again the standard and the traditions of the 1erRAC.

1958 : The colonial Troupes become Troupes of Navy, the 1erRAC becomes the 1erRAMa .

History

1803 : A regiment is created within the marine artillery Body. It takes part in the Napoleonean wars, in particular in the campaigns of Saxony (1813) and France (1814).

1838 : The first forwarding with the Mexico.

1854-1855 : The regiment takes part in the war of the Crimea and the seat of Sébastopol.

1863 : The second forwarding with the Mexico.

1870 : The regiment forms artillery of the “Division of Navy” (or Blue Division) which gathers the 4 regiments of marines. This one covers glory with Bazeilles (August 31st and September 1st) close to Sedan. The commemoration of the combat of Bazeilles is celebrated each year by the troops of Navy, of which it is the festival.

1883-1885 : Participation in the war of Tonkin, which confirms the French presence in Indo-China.

1892 : The regiment forms artillery of the forwarding of the Dahomey (today Bénin).

1895 : The regiment takes share with the conquest of Madagascar.

1900-1901 : The regiment takes share with the forwarding of China (war of the Boxers)

1910 : The regiment is the first artillery regiment to receive the cross of the Légion of honor.

1914-1918 : The 1erRAC form the artillery of the 2 {{E}} DIC (division of colonial infantry). With it, it is illustrated at the time of the combat of the Marne (September 1914), of Champagne (1915), of the Somme (1916), of the Aisne (1917) and of Rheims (1918).

The regiment is quoted twice with the order of the army and receives the Military Cross 1914-1918.

December 1941 : With artillery of the Free French Army which has just taken part in the fratricidal combat of Syria, the major Laurent-Champrosay form the 1st RAFFL (artillery Regiment of the Free French Army). 1940 : The Regiment does not escape the general rout. Dispersed and destroyed, it east dissolves.

1942-1945 : However, Overseas, the French Free S organize and set up in December 1941 the 1st Artillery Regiment of the Free French Army. This Regiment takes part in all the stages which mark out the reconquest Countryside of Africa: Bir-Hakheim, El Alamein, Takrouna,… Countryside of Italy: Garigliano, Pontecorvo,… Unloading in Provence and Campagne of France: Toulon, Belfort Gap, Colmar, Strasbourg, Authion. The 1st RAFFL follows the 1 {{Re}} DFL (free French Division) in its epopee. Heroic resistance to Bir-Hakeim (1942), combat of El-Alamein, countryside of Tunisia, unloading in Provence, countryside of Alsace, battles of the the Alps.

The regiment is quoted three times at the order of the army and receives the Military Cross 1939-1945. It receives moreover the Croix of the Release. 1956-1962 : A detachment of the regiment takes part in the operations in Algeria.

1977 : The regiment leaves Melun for the new garrison with Monthlery

1993 : August 2nd, the regiment takes its new districts with Laon Couvron

1995-1996 : The 1erRAMa sends detachments in ex- Yugoslavia, within the fast Force of reaction (FRR) (bombardment of the batteries Serbe S of the Mont Igman) or of IFOR, charged to make respect the Accords of Dayton.

Traditions

; The festival of the troops of navy
  • It is celebrated at the time of the birthday of the combat of BAZEILLES. This village which was 4 times taken again and gave up on orders, the August 31st and on September 1st, 1870.

  • lives the Porpoises and Bigors has as patron saint God himself. This war cry finishes the intimate ceremonies which belong to the life of the regiments.

Badge

The badge of the regiment (virgin) is an anchor of marine, a gun posed horizontally above, on the bottom a red rhombus color posed on a blue escutcheon of color, the contour of color but, in top on each sides a cross of Lorraine is.

Currency

On their cap the bombers carried their currency which remained that of the regiment:

" Alter post fulminated terror" (Other terror after the lightning).

Decorations

The standard is decorated with the cross of the Légion of honor, of the Military Cross 1914-1918 (2 palms), of the Military Cross 1939-1945 (3 palms) and of the Croix of the Release. It is entitled to the port of the Fourragère to the colors of the Military Cross 1914 1918 since August 13rd, 1918, with olive carrying attribution with the Military Cross 1939-1945. As from on June 18th, 1996 the fodder one with the colors of the Cross of the release .
