1st-2nd regiment of hunters

The 2nd regiment of hunters is a unit of the French Army.

Hunters of Lorraine

Created in 1998, the 2nd Hunters perpetuates in its two groups of squadrons the traditions of the {{1st}} and 2 {{E}} Régiments of Hunters with Horse and of the 2 {{E}} Régiment of Hunters of Africa.

It is confined with the doors of Verdun to Thierville-on-Meuse.

The 2nd Regiment of Hunters is very often employed in interior missions (operations) Mourmelon, Mailly-the-Camp and in external operations Lebanon, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzégovine, Afghanistan, Ivory Coast, like in missions of short durations Senegal, New Caledonia, and operations of defense of the territory like the plans Vigipirate.

The currency of the regiment is: “All together. Ahead! ”.

Composition

It is composed of two groups of squadrons:

  • the group of squadrons Hunters with

    • the 1st squadron (1GE1) of combat
    • the 2nd squadron (2GE1) of combat
    • the 3rd squadron (3GE1) of combat
    • the squadron of command and logistics (ECLGE1)

  • the group of squadrons 2nd Hunters with

    • the 1st squadron (1GE2) of combat
    • the 2nd squadron (2GE2) of combat
    • the 3rd squadron (3GE2) of combat
    • the squadron of command and logistics (ECLGE2)

It includes/understands also

  • the squadrons of reserve of professional regiment (ERRP): the 5th
  • the squadron of administration and support (EAS): the 6th
  • the regimental squadron of maintenance (EMR): the 7th

and since 2003 the district of the 1st-2nd Hunters shelters

  • the squadron of lighting and investigation of the 7 {{E}} armor-plated brigade (EEI7)
