January 4th. the United States: collision between two trains, respectively of Amtrak and Conrail in the Maryland.
February 2nd: Ireland: the national company of transport Córas Iompair Éireann (Co) is divided into several subsidiary companies, of which the Iarnród Éireann (Railroads Irish) in charge of the exploitation of the national Railway network.
