January

March

  • 10 - March 17th: New retreat of the left to the cantonal elections.
  • March 29th:
    • Business Grégory: Bernard Laroche is killed of a rifle shot by Jean-Marie Villemin who charges the assassination of her Grégory son to him.
    • Suicide of Sister Smile.

April

  • April 4th: Resignation of Michel Rocard of the government, in connection with the adoption of the poll proportional for the legislative elections (Official press release published in the night from April 3rd to 4th).

June

  • June 26th: Adoption of the poll proportional departmental for the legislative elections.

July

  • July 10th: Explosion of Rainbow Warrior in the port of Auckland in New Zealand by the French secret services: 1 dead.
  • July 12th: Arrest of two French secret agents, the false husband Turenge, by the New Zealand police force.
  • July 31st: The French government authorizes the creation of private channels of television.

September

  • September 20th: Resignation of the Minister for Defense Charles Hernu and the admiral Pierre Lacoste blamed in the Business of Rainbow Warrior.
  • September 23rd: Inauguration of the Pont-Neuf packed by Christo in a film of ocher polyester yellow of a surface of 40.876 m2 whose realization required 3.076 meters of cord and 12 tons steel chains. This installation symbolized for Bulgarian the Christo Javacheff its own passage of the communist world on the free world and its arrival in Paris, its first place of real artistic creation.
