Thursday January 13rd- Case of arson on the place for military vehicles of Frauenfeld. The damage is assembled to: 100000 francs. The act is not asserted.

- Of unknown explodes a pylon of line with high voltage close to Pratteln. Nobody is wounded, but the damage rises to a million francs.

Monday February 7th- to protest against the dismissal of a typographer, the syndicated workers of the printing works of Tribune de Genève put themselves in strike. The daily newspaper does not appear during 3 days.

- federal Votings. The federal decree concerning the constitutional article on energy is approved by the people (: 649485 yes against: 626047 not), but rejected by the cantons (12 not against 11 yes).
- complementary Election in Argovie. Ulrich Siegrist (UDC) is elected with the Council of State at the time of the 1st ballot.

Tuesday the 1st er March- For the third time of its history, HC Bienne is champion of Switzerland of hockey-on-ice.
- Cantonal elections with Basle-Countryside. Clemens Stöckli (PDC), Paul Nyffeler (PRD), Werner Spitteler (UDC), Paul Jenni (PS) and Markus von Baerle (PRD) are elected with the Council of State at the time of the 1st ballot.
- Death in Geneva of Humberto II, former king of Italy.
- Joséphine Dart, girl of the novelist Frederic Dard is kidnapped during a few hours at the family home of Vandoeuvres. She will be released against the payment of a ransom of 2 million Swiss francs. The kidnappers will be stopped and the recovered ransom.

Thursday April 14th- Official visit of François Mitterrand, president of the French Republic.
- Cantonal elections with the Tessin. Carlo Speziali (PRD), Fulvio Caccia (PDC), Claudio Generali (PRD), Renzo Respini (PDC) and Rossano Bervini (PS) are elected with the Council of State at the time of the 1st ballot.
- Cantonal elections with Zurich. Hedi Lang (PS), Jakob Stucki (UDC), Peter Wiederkehr (PDC), Albert Siegrist (PRD), Hans Künzi (PRD), Konrad Gisler (UDC) and Alfred Gilgen (AdI) are elected with the Council of State at the time of the 1st ballot. Hedi Lang is the first woman to enter a cantonal executive to Switzerland.
- Cantonal elections with Lucerne. Heinrich Zemp, Josef Egli, Karl Kennel and Walters Gut, all the four members of (PDC) are elected with the Council of State at the time of the 1st ballot.
