  • January. the United States: Amtrak team her passenger train Empire Builder with material Superliner .

  • May 9th. Swiss: signature with Bern of the final Act of the diplomatic Conference called for the implementation of the Relative convention to railway international transport (COTIF). This convention is coming into effect the 1 {{er}} May 1985.
  • 1 {{er}} June. Swiss: startup of the rail link between the city and the Airport of Zurich-Kloten.
  • October 14th. the United States: adoption of the Staggers Rail Act, law which institutes the Dérégulation railroads.
