Events
- In May, Jean-Louis Barrault opens to the students the doors Théâtre of Odéon of which he is director. He follows an occupation of the theater which becomes, with the Sorbonne, the center of the debates during almost a month, which will cost its place Barrault.
- May 25th signature of the declaration of Villeurbanne by the directors of the houses of the culture and the popular theaters which preach a politicized theater.
- After the short speech of the general de Gaulle (on May 30th), Jean Vilar announces that it does not accept any more any official function. The NPT thus withdraws Festival of Avignon and Maurice Béjart is only found in the Main courtyard.
